About The Chapter
The Greater Bluegrass Chapter of RIMS, Inc. was founded in May 2022 following nearly two years of planning and collaboration among regional risk professionals. The chapter represents both a forward-looking initiative and the revival of the former Kentuckiana/Bluegrass Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, which dissolved in 2016.
Serving risk professionals across Kentucky and Southern Indiana, the chapter provides a central hub for connection, education, and advancement within the risk management and insurance community. While many events are hosted in Louisville, the chapter actively engages members throughout the region, including Lexington and Richmond, with plans to expand to new locations as membership continues to grow.

The chapter is home to nearly 100 members, representing a diverse cross-section of the industry including risk managers, brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, students, and service providers.
Members span a wide range of industries such as manufacturing, construction, financial services, utilities, agriculture, restaurants, insurance, and Kentucky’s signature distilling sector, creating a dynamic and well-rounded professional network.
Events & Engagement
The chapter hosts approximately 6–8 events annually, including educational sessions, networking gatherings, and our annual meeting featuring multiple speaker sessions including panels. Programming is intentionally varied to ensure fresh perspectives and unique experiences throughout the year.
Members are also encouraged to participate in RIMS’ global RISKWORLD Conference each May, further connecting the chapter to the broader risk management community.
Community & Leadership
Guided by a board of dedicated officers and members, many of which are part of the founding group, the chapter emphasizes collaboration, inclusivity, and professional growth. Its strong sense of community is reinforced by the continued support of its sponsors, whose contributions make ongoing programming and initiatives possible.
Recognition & Achievements
Despite being a relatively new chapter, the Greater Bluegrass Chapter has quickly earned national recognition. It was honored as RIMS Chapter of the Year in both 2024 and 2025—an achievement that underscores the chapter’s impact, growth, and commitment to excellence.
